The Phoenix Vision

We’re striving every day to create a business that is good for the planet and great for the health of its people. To do that, we integrate the principals of sustainability into what we do each day. And we want to empower our customers to make a real difference to our world.

Organics

Phoenix Organics has been committed to organics since day one.

In the beginning this was tough, due to limited demand and low supply of organic ingredients. We compromised by making natural products, with no preservatives or artificial ingredients… but using organic ingredients wherever possible. In 1999, the demand and awareness of organics had risen, so we jumped in boots and all, committing fully to organics.

We began the process of converting all our lines over from natural to certified organic. Finding enough certified ingredients for our growing range remains a constant challenge, but one we relish. Currently all our product ranges are certified organic except our Hot Beverage range for which we couldn’t quite source all the ingredients as organic. Our target is nothing less than 100%!

Genetic Engineering

Phoenix are passionate about New Zealand remaining GE Free.

In our opinion, there are few benefits to going down this path, and potentially huge risks to the future of our food safety. Why on earth would we want to go there?!

Instead, we believe New Zealand should continue to build on its “clean green image”. This will protect our markets for all our primary agricultural products, and enhance our already great image as a tourist destination. It‘s a win-win situation.

Sustainability

At Phoenix, we think sustainability can be described like this:

“Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

As such, we reckon the only responsible direction for business is the sustainable way. Business must take responsibility for its impact on society and the environment… not just maintaining a profit to its shareholders.

Ethical Consumption

Sustainability isn‘t just about businesses though. You (yes, we‘re talking to you here!) have the power to influence the big guys with every purchasing decision you make!

This is known as being an Ethical Consumer. It‘s about making choices that are small in themselves, but support good businesses and leave the baddies out in the cold. Every person‘s choice is small, but if we all do it, we‘ll make some big changes.

Here are a few things you can do, and how they make a difference:
